What Is the Next Bid Amount? | Roller Auction Help Center

The next required bid amount is based on a preset bidding scale. As the price of an item increases, the bid increments increase as well. This keeps bidding moving efficiently while allowing fair competition.

Standard Bid Increments

The required bid amount increases based on the current high bid:

• $0 – $10 → $1 increments
• $10 – $25 → $2.50 increments
• $25 – $100 → $5 increments
• $100 – $250 → $10 increments
• $250 – $500 → $25 increments
• $500 – $1,500 → $50 increments
• $1,500 – $5,000 → $100 increments
• $5,000 – $10,000 → $250 increments
• $10,000 – $50,000 → $500 increments
• $50,000+ → $1,000 increments

How This Works

The system will automatically calculate and display the next acceptable bid based on the current price.

Example:

If the current bid is $275, the next required bid would be $300 (based on $25 increments).

Why Bid Amounts Increase

As prices rise, larger increments:

• keep auctions moving efficiently
• reduce excessive back-and-forth bidding
• help close auctions in a timely manner

Quantity-Based Bidding (Less Common)

In some cases, items are sold using “bid times quantity.”

This is typically used for bulk items such as flooring, lumber, or similar materials.

Example

If a lot contains 300 square feet of flooring and the bid is $1, the total purchase price would be:

$1 × 300 = $300

In these cases:

• your bid is per unit
• the final price is calculated by multiplying your bid by the total quantity

This will be clearly stated in the lot description when applicable.

Helpful Tips

• Always review the current bid and next bid shown on the screen
• Be aware that increments increase as bidding goes higher
• Check the lot description to see if it is a quantity-based item
